Sterling Station

Sterling Station Its Trains, People and More
by Laura Decker     65 pages

This memoir by Laura Dexker recalls rural family life made dramatic by the railroad junction she passed each day on her way to a one room country schoolhouse. Sterling Station was the junction of the Lehigh Valley Railroad and the “Hojack” line, and saw many trains each way controlled by a signal tower whose operator used 24 levers to control switches and signals during the 65 year boom of the Golden Age of Rail in Sterling.
