by Erwin Fineout, former Fair Haven Village Historian. Published 2003. 295 pages.
A personal story of growing up in Fair Haven in a railroad family that reflects the boom period when the Lehigh Valley Railroad connected Pennsylvania to a 1500′ long trestle on Little Sodus Bay for Great Lakes shipping. Mr. Fineout had a long career in Fair Haven Beach State Park culminating service as Park Superintendent. This was followed by a career as a journalist for Syracuse newspapers and then as Village Historian and author.
This well written account includes a rich recollection of youthful adventures and misadventures and a more serious section about service in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
