George Edward Ingersoll

American Legion PostThe first Sterling man to die in service to his country during the First World War was George Ingersoll.  The George E. Ingersoll American Leagion Hall in Fair Haven is named for him. 

Son of John Ingersoll. 

born  1891 September 20 in Fair Haven, New York
died   1918 October 21 at Edgewood Camp, Maryland, age 27

He left Fair Haven on July 29th less than three months before he died.
