Gordon Louis “Bunker” Hill

Born on Cayuga Street in North Fair Haven December 13, 1916Gordon Hill‘s family took to calling him Bunky at an early age, after a character in the Sunday comic strip Barney GoogleBunky eventually evolved into Bunker Hill, the moniker which stuck with him the rest of his life.

Bunker’s grandfather, Ira Ward Hill, served during the Civil War and his great-grandfather, Benjamin Franklyn Hills, served during the War of 1812.
